20 Great Music Video Collaborations Of The 21st Century

We all love a good music collaboration. They bring our favourite artists all together in one place, allow us to hear their talents combine and see them strut their stuff together. An announcement for a new single is much more exciting when you know one of your other favourite musicians will also be jumping in on it, and let’s not forget, they also allow the perfect opportunity for less famous musicians to gain some of the recognition they deserve. From Beyoncé to Rod Stewart, we’ve had some crackers so far this century and it’s time to reminisce. 20 Great music video collaborations of the 21st Century? Don’t mind if we do. In no particular order of course..

To kick things off at number one, the ultimate girl power collaboration. Queen B and Latina superstar Shakira wowed us all with their video for hit Beautiful Liar back in 2006:

1. Beyoncé & Shakira – Beautiful Liar

Back in 2009 Gaga teamed up with Beyoncé to bless us with Telephone, a short film styled music video masterpiece. As though the two coming together to produce music wasn’t enough to get us excited in the first place, the video lasts for an impressive 9 minutes and 30 seconds!:

2.Lady Gaga & Beyoncé – Telephone

Eminem and our red head phase Rihanna collaborated in 2010 to bring us Love the way you lie, part 1, which was soon after followed by a part 2. Eminem and Rihanna together? You’ve got our vote:

Ah, the video that had us all talking. In 2013, music mega-stars Robin Thicke, T.I. and Pharell joined forces to bring us Blurred Lines. The song was actually released with 2 videos, one being much more explicit and maybe not for the faint hearted. The cleaner version however, is still impressive enough to us to make it in to the top 20:

10. Robin Thicke, T.I. & Pharell – Blurred Lines

Pharell popping up here again, but this time to collaborate with electronic music duo Daft Punk and legendary guitarist Nile Rodgers. Get Lucky topped the charts back in 2013, and kept the top spot for a whole 4 weeks! Not bad ay? And the music video isn’t too bad either:

11. Daft Punk, Pharell & Nile Rodgers – Get Lucky

One of the more unusual combinations of collaborating artists in our top 20, WILL.I.AM, Jenny from the block and ex The Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger released ‘T.H.E (The hardest ever)’ back in 2012. The video mainly shows Will riding various forms of transport through the desert, but J.Lo and Mick Jagger also make an appearance:

Another arguably out of the ordinary collaboration at number 13 as A$AP Rocky. Rod Stewart, Miguel and Mark Ronson bring us ‘Everyday’. Now that’s a musical combination you don’t see everyday..

13. A$AP Rocky, Rod Stewart, Miguel, Mark Ronson – Everyday

Multi-talented man Justin Timberlake joined rapper Jay-Z back in 2013 to bring us Suit & Tie, Justin’s comeback single from his album ‘The 20/20 experience’. The video features both Justin and Jay-Z, and is all filmed in an edgy black and white filter:

Previously a couple (at the time the video was filmed), DJ Calvin Harris and singer Ellie Goulding came together to collaborate on ‘I need your love’ back in 2013. Toned, tanned, fit and ready (as Snoop would say), our collaboration at number 16 is the California Girl herself Katy Perry teaming up with Snoop Dogg to bring us their number one hit California Girls. Released in 2010, as of March 2012, the single had sold 741,001 copies in the United Kingdom alone. Not bad huh?

16. Katy Perry & Snoop Dogg – California Girls

Back in the days before Biebs was famous, Usher found him on Youtube and signed him after spotting his potential, which made the perfect reasoning behind this collaboration at number 17. Somebody to Love was released in 2010, and the video features the two stars together:

17. Justin Bieber & Usher – Somebody To Love

Calvin Harris returns at number 18, but this time with rapper Dizzee Rascal to produce ‘Dance Wiv Me’. Released in 2008, the single topped the UK charts with over 60,000,000 copies sold. The music video for this track features both Dizzee and Calvin, with Dizzee being inside the club and Calvin playing the role of the bar man. We’ll have a drink while you’re at it, Calvin:

18. Dizzee Rascal & Calvin Harris – Dance Wiv Me

At number 19 pop star Rihanna teamed up with rapper Drake for ‘Take Care’. The 2012 track only peaked at number 9 in the UK charts, but has 151,390,470 views on Drake’s Vevo channel on YouTube alone to date:
